South Yorkshire Police Refuse to Help on Remembrance Sunday

In a truly bizarre cutback of suicidal political proportions South Yorkshire Police are informing the British Legion and other key stakeholders that officers will no longer be sent to close roads for the Remembrance Sunday procession in Dinnington.

Organisers have been told they will have to pay Rotherham Council to close the roads and then pay to hire their own marshals to stop people wandering into the road.

This is the cyanide on the cake for Dinnington which recently had its Sergeant and safer neighbourhood team removed and replaced by a pair of PCSOs who will be shared with other villages. Dinnington Police station will be closed to save £12,000 per year.

Labour Police Commissioner Alan Billings promised that Police would have access to a room in the Dinnington Resource Centre 24 hours a day. The Police themselves have said that the room will be used as a base and not manned, the public can meet the Police there if they happen to be using it at the time.

It will NOT be manned 24 hours a day as local Labour politician Judy Dalton seems to think. Please could we ask local Councillors like Katherine Wilson to NOT re-tweet things without first establishing them as fact.

JudyDaltonPolicePresence

WRONG!

A few other rumours have been circulating regarding Policing and we can offer the following…

  1. Dinnington will have two PCSOs most of the time, they will generally work during the day, but not usually after 10pm.
  2. They will be patrolling in cars, on bikes, on foot and occasionally using the bus.
  3. The Police 999 service usually comes from Maltby, NO restriction has been places on officers as to what route they use to get here, local rumours had suggested that they could no longer use back roads.
  4. The PCSOs will NOT have to commute from Maltby via bike or bus, we are told they are usually in a car or dropped off by car.
  5. Rotherham Police are not short of cars, they have on average 1 car for every two front line officers which is regarded as optimal.
  6. The room as Dinnington Resource Centre will come online in June and will be manned from time to time only. It will NOT be manned at night.
  7. Crime cannot be reported via the Resource Centre, call 101.

If you have any information or anything regarding policing you would like us to look into please feel free to leave a comment below.

As for Remembrance Sunday we would expect a retraction of this rather clumsy policy so stay tuned.

Dump Labour and Vote Independent!

Do Dinnington and Anston a favour if you really must vote Labour and stay at home!

It’s that time of year again, you’ve probably had the pamphlets through the door already. It’s the only time the Rotherham Labour party give a monkeys about Dinnington and Anston…. That’s right! **ELECTION TIME!!**

Any day now they will be knocking on your door, perhaps accompanied by the local MP if he’s not too busy referring himself to the Parliamentary Standards Committee.

If course they’ll want to talk to you about Tory cuts and how it would be so much better if they were running things, but you might want to ask a few questions:

  1. Just who was it who allowed hundreds of young girls to be abused on the streets of Rotherham for years?
  2. Why is the Labour controlled Police force withdrawing officers from our community and closing our Police station? Why don’t we get our fair share of South Yorkshire Police resources?
  3. Why do we see year on year under investment in our local infrastructure whilst our Council tax is spent in Rotherham town centre?
  4. Why don’t we have leisure facilities in Dinnington or Anston? Why did they get built in Maltby and Aston when we have a higher population here?
  5. Why are all the travellers camps in Rotherham earmarked for our area?

Yes, it’s the Labour party!

This year we have three independent candidates in Dinnington and two in Anston. Vote Independent and Dump Labour in 2016!

Dinnington Town Council Snubbed by Resource Centre Trustees

Dinnington Town Council have been told to sling their hook at the Resource Centre.

The Council is entitled to nominate two representatives to sit on the board of trustees but their nominees have been deemed not worthy by forces unknown.
This is strange as DTC is the democratically elected Council of Dinnington and you’d think the Resource Centre would be keen to engage.
Also who we wonder is currently occupying the seats meant for the DTC representatives?
And does all this have anything to do with left over animosity by the former Labour Cllrs, who left the Town Council at the last election under mysterious circumstances?
More info as we get it…

Dinnington Police Station to Close!

Dinnington Police Station is officially closing!

Run down for decades the building is now merely a base for the very small team of PCSOs left in Rother Valley South. But now we will be losing it altogether as confirmed by the Area Commander at the latest Rother Valley South Area Assembly meeting in Woodsetts.

Also in attendance was the Police Commissioner who gave a rather uncertain and not very confident speech about the need to save money and cut back on services. He said the future would be sharing of facilities with the other blue light services like ambulance and fire, which are not to be found anywhere near Dinnington either!

Our beleaguered PCSOs (no Constables or Sergeant are now to be found in Dinnington at all) will be based for part of their day at the Dinnington Resource Centre. This seems to have become a theme, if you want to cut a service or close a building move it there.

At least folks can have a read in the library while they wait for the fuzz to show up. Also don’t expect any out of hours services, there won’t be any!

Our suggestion? Why don’t the Police rent a couple of houses to use as bases in Dinnington? suitable roads which spring to mind would be Leicester Road and Doe Quarry Terrace. The rents are low and the Police would have very little distance to travel to their ummm…. “customer base”

Not that we are suggesting everyone on these streets are criminals, but we have spoken to many people from these roads who would welcome a larger Police presence, not the cut down service we seem to be destined for.

Just our 2p……

Early Election Results! Labour Party Legs it in Dinnington and Anston!

Yes we know the elections are in May, but all candidates have now declared and there are insufficient numbers for Anston Parish Council and Dinnington Town Council.

What does this mean? Anyone who nominated themselves is now a Councillor and the big news is that the Labour Party has done one in Dinnington and Anston, they have vanished!

Labour big guns like Iain Saint John, Judy Dalton, Jo Burton, Dominic Beck and Simon Tweed have stood down leaving the field clear for a mass of mainly independent candidates.

Ralph McIver has also chosen not to continue as Dinnington’s chair, is no longer on the Council and no longer a member of the Labour party.

Indeed as has been pointed out even former Labour Cllrs who have re-joined do not seem to be describing themselves as Labour.

Anston Parish Council will be John Ireland (current chair and Borough candidate), Gordon Jarvis (current Cllr) and Philip Matthews for South and Clive Jepson (current Cllr and one of the few independent Borough Cllrs in South Yorkshire), Ivan Machin, Myles Manship (campaigner for Anston Skate Park), Christine Sadler, Drew Tarney, Stuart Thornton (current Cllr) and Paul Vernon for North.

Dinnington Town Council will be Leslie Clarke (Salvation Army), Pauline Davies (Former chair), Brian Lewis (Political agitator crossed with a flying picket!), William Loftus, Andrew Milner, Roy Mugglestone (current Cllr), Paula Russell (current Cllr), Steven Scott (Current Cllr) and Dave Smith (current Cllr, former NUM President and politico at large for Dinnington).

Why has Labour rode off into the sunset? A few theories doing the rounds:

1. After the CSE scandal in Rotherham the knives were out (metaphorically) for certain Labour councillors who had held responsibility in the past for child protection. Possible.

2. Shame? Never stopped them standing before?

3. Parish and Town Councillors don’t get paid? Probably the favourite explanation for the withdrawal of former Borough Cllrs! Many Borough Cllrs used the Parish and Town as a platform to drive their personal priorities and fiefdoms, now with these people stepping down from the Borough due to the problems in Rotherham, Parish and Town level does nothing for them.

4. They just got tired. There has been a lot more scrutiny of their actions over the last few years and many of them were conscripts and not battles hardened. Basically they ran away.

If anyone else has further theories, however wacko just leave a comment.

Councillor Jane Havenhand Latest to Step Down in Wake of CSE Scandal

Councillor Jane Havenhand has announced she is stepping down this year, there have been widespread calls for her to do so since the CSE scandal hot Rotherham as she has held some key rolls in licensing of taxis and child protection in the past.

Rumour around Dinnington is that she will take up a new job with the Olde Dinnington Club, an establishment which her family has been involved in for sometime.

Both Jane and her sister Jacquie have been conspicuously absent from Dinnington Town Council meetings of late, even though she insisted last year she would not resign due to the CSE scandal. (Click for video)

A rather embarassing incident took place past year when their brother went round to a political rivals home and threatened to duff him up. Jacquie was forced to publicly apologise.

LoveDinnington says: whilst we welcome the resignations of complicit Councillors we would also urge that any money they have received over the years for failed duties should be repaid and put into a fund for victims of CSE in Rotherham Borough.

What does the Future hold for the Dinnington Miners Welfare?

Kevin Barron and CISWO (the “owner” of the Miner’s Welfare) hosted a secret meeting with the Friends of Dinnington Miners Welfare and Dinnington Town Council last year.

The general public were not invited, indeed two members of the Friends group were thrown out before it started because Kevin doesn’t get on with them.

He does get on well with CISWO, however and the meeting agreed to give it’s blessing to the demolition of Park House (which was already wrecked) and a plan to use some of the greenbelt land down there for housing. Some of the funds from the housing may be given back to provide sports facilities, BUT there’s no written agreement or guarantee that this will happen.

The total farce of our green belt “consultation” with Rotherham Council is revealed when we view these plans for the welfare, prepared for CISWO as far back as 2010. They have been planning it for years and the opinion of Joe Public is not required as far as they are concerned!

LoveDinnington says:

1. Kevin Barron the ultimate champagne socialist rolling in riches while people live in poverty yards from his office door should get off his ass and involve the local community at large and ask that THEY want for Dinnington and the Welfare.

2. CISWO who should never have hoovered local assets up in the first place should GIVE THEM BACK to the people of Dinnington.

3. And Dinnington Town Council should stop behaving like a bunch of stooges and tell Barron and his ilk where to get off!

Have a look at what the Welfare could look like by clicking the images below. Do you have an opinion and would you like a say? Share it with us here or on the LoveDinnington Facebook page.

Dinnington Town Councillors Refuse to Condemn Disgraced Rotherham Councillors

Dinnington Town Council at their Monday night meeting refused to condemn the disgraced Rotherham Councillors and call for immediate resignations.

One Councillors said the move would be too drastic. What?!!!

When firebrand Councillor Dave Smith tried to place the subject on the agenda he was voted down.

Shame, Shame, Shame, SHAME!

See it here for yourselves!

Part one

Part two

Yet by only the narrowest of margins did Dave Smith prevent the Council from giving TEN THOUSAND POUNDS to an organisation with connections to a Councillors daughter!

Unbe smegging lieavable.

Rotherham Council Sinks Beneath the Waves of Truth

Rotherham Council’s chickens came home to roost big time last week with the publication of the Casey report following on from the Jay report of last year. The Secretary of State announced that government commissioners would move in to take over executive duties in Rotherham and the serving cabinet of Labour Councillors resigned at once.

Yet what is not so well known is the part played in these events by our local Councillors, some of whom are still in office, others now bit players on Parish Councils.

Iain St John was Lord Mayor of Sheffield during the period in question and probably should have spent more time challenging officials and the Police instead of riding around in the big car opening things.

Judy Dalton is licensing supremo in Rotherham, at least was as this role will be passed to the government soon. Taxi drivers were lambasted by the Jay report for providing the means in many cases to ferry victims around Rotherham and further afield. She was also adviser to the now resigned Children’s Services supremo.

Jo Burton was a member of a scrutiny committee who were tasked with oversight of child protection. She was vice chair of the committee for a couple of years and also served on the licensing board during the worst of the abuses. She was a senior adviser to Sean Wright the disgraced Police Commissioner when he ran Children’s Services.

Dominic Beck has resigned as a cabinet member, he has also served on the licensing board

Jacqui Falvey has also served on the Children and Young People’s Services Scrutiny Panel and on the licensing board when abuse was rife.

Jane Havenhand has had the following roles:

Licensing Board (May 2004 to date)

Licensing Committee (May 2005 to date)

Senior Adviser to Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services (May 2007 to May 2011)

Adviser to Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services (May 2005 to May 2007)

Adviser to Cabinet Member for Safeguarding and Developing Learning Opportunities for Children (May 2011 to May 2012)

Adviser to Cabinet Member for Safeguarding Children and Adults (May 2012 to May 2013)

Why did they serve on all these committees and take on all these roles?

They got paid. Thousands of pounds.

What were they doing? Taking the money.

LoveDinnington says:

1. All RMBC Councillors should resign. Now. From all roles in public life.

2. All the Councillors who held licensing and child protection scrutiny roles should pay back all the money they collected over the years to be paid into a fund for the victims.

3. RMBC as an entity should be disbanded and each Area Assembly allowed a vote as to who governs them from now on.

The government should act now to kill the rot and punish the rotten Councillors and officials who through greed, inaction and incompetence ruined the loves of hundreds of children.

Dave Smith Blasts Back!

After his respectable showing as an independent in last year’s Borough elections local Dinnington firebrand Dave Smith won the recent by-election to join Dinnington Town Council. Dave will be having his second outing as Town Councillor this Monday and I would think is sure to go for election again next year to both retain his town seat and try again for Borough as well.
Dave has for years been active in local affairs and was formerly President of the NUM branch where lots of people will know him from. He isn’t the kind to keep quiet on issues and I think will be a real shot in the arm for politics in Dinnington. The profile overall of the Town Council needs raising and Dave’s style will help with that certainly. Most people don’t even know the difference between Borough and Town Cllrs and this really needs to change.
There is also the question of whether our Borough Councillors will resign in the wake of the Jay and Casey reports, despite calls from us and Dave for them to do so they have so far declined.
